A Poem of Parting (2.20.13)

DSC09942

In parting
there’s a death,

An exhale in the constant communing.

We experience it as emptiness,
As vacancy.

We look around, and we are
ALONE.

When as if it were magic,
we find ourselves amongst the
space we move in.

I hear my name echoed back
from the trees, and the dull
roar of passing cars.

I find friends in the faces
of passing strangers —
Once seen,
never to be seen again.

Somewhere among this transitory
nature of life,
I find constancy,
and permanence.

I loosen around their going,
and grow more certain of
their coming.

There is ease in the “here”,
In the absence.
